This standard covers the skills and knowledge required to place seam positions in a manner that minimises the use of the solid surface sheets and accessory materials and that maximises product performance. It also covers seaming solid surfaces and ensuring that there are
Performance criteria
You must be able to:
comply with health and safety requirements and procedures at all
times
- obtain specifications and requirements following standard
operating procedures
- obtain equipment and materials required following standard
operating procedures
- check equipment is set up correctly and in good working order
following standard operating procedures and any manufacturer's
instructions
- check materials required meet specifications and are free from
faults following standard operating procedures
- examine plans and consider alternative options of designing
installations to meet specifications taking into consideration
• hob and/or heat emitting appliances
• dishwashers
• internal corners
• on-site seams and size of transportable parts
- dry-fit to ensure joints have been accurately cut and matched to
meet specifications
prepare seams following manufacturers' instructions
apply adhesive following manufacturers' instructions
pull and tighten seams following company procedures and
manufacturers' instructions
remove excess glue following manufacturers' instructions
re-enforce seams to provide maximum strength following
manufacturers' instructions
