Provide a driving commentary whilst accompanying a learner Tram Driver
Overview
This standard is about providing a driving commentary whilst accompanying a learner Tram Driver. You will be able to support a learner Tram Driver by providing a driving commentary which is relevant to the route and delivering it at a pace and style to suit a learner Tram Driver needs. You will be able to adapt your commentary to suit individual learner Tram Driver needs and those of the organisation and be able to encourage questions when it is safe to do so. It is important that the commentary you provide meets legal requirements and organisational procedures. You will be able to provide a driving commentary which is risk-based and be able to take action if there is a need to interrupt or stop your commentary.
This standard is for those who work in a Tram Driver training role at supervisor level in the Tram and Tramway environment.
Performance criteria
You must be able to:
P1 plan driving commentaries that are relevant to the route and requirements of the learner Tram Driver
P2 confirm the planned driving commentaries meet the training purpose and outcomes
P3 confirm to the learner Tram Driver the action you will take if there is a requirement to interrupt or stop your commentary
P4 provide a driving commentary that is relevant to the route, taking into account risks and potential hazards
P5 adapt the style and pace of a commentary to suit individual learner Tram Driver requirements
P6 support the learner Tram Driver to ask questions and reflect on the content of the commentary, when it is safe to do so
