Supervise a Tram driving simulator training session
Overview
This standard is about supervising a tram driving simulator training session. You will know and understand the benefits and limitations of using simulator training and the instances in which simulator training is required especially in the training of route knowledge, emergencies and malfunctions. You will be able to create an environment which supports learning and be able to confirm the simulators are available and are set up in line with the learning objectives. You will be able to monitor the training, intervene when required and know and understand the limitations surrounding a specific simulator type and set up.
This standard is for those who work in a Tram Driver training role at supervisor level in the Tram and Tramway environment.
Performance criteria
You must be able to:
P1 confirm the Tram driving simulation training session aligns to the overall learning strategy of your organisation
P2 review suitable previous simulator training session data and information, as required
P3 provide a suitable environment for the Tram driving simulation training session to take place
P4 undertake a briefing with the learner drivers to confirm they understand the requirements of their Tram driving simulator training session
P5 set up and configure a Tram driving simulator session to meet individual learner needs
P6 select events and scenarios that are specific to the requirements of learner drivers involved in the simulator training session
P7 review the performance of the learner driver during the Tram driving simulator sessions
P8 adapt events and scenarios of the simulation to meet individual learner driver requirements
P9 interpret and analyse data and information received from the learner Tram driving simulator sessions
P10 undertake a debriefing to confirm learner drivers have understood their performance during the Tram driving simulator session
P11 record and report training session information relating to the use of a Tram driving simulator in line with organisational procedures
P12 follow the latest developments and industry news regarding the different types and current practice of Tram driving simulators
P13 suggest improvements or changes to the use of Tram driving simulators in line with organisational requirements
