Process cabinet roller towels
Overview
This standard is for those who set up and use continuous processing to wash, dry and finish cabinet roller towels. You will also be responsible for preparing machinery, equipment and supplies for continuous processing. You must also be able to work with others and communicate effectively.
This standard is for laundry operatives who specialise in continuous processing.
Performance criteria
You must be able to:
P1 prepare machinery, equipment and supplies for continuous processing of roller towels
P2 plan the work to be done and follow instructions to complete the work allocated
P3 select the correct machine programmes, detergents and chemicals to process the towels
P4 operate the machinery according to the manufacturer’s instructions
P5 wash, dry and finish the towels to meet organisational quality standards
P6 store the finished towels so that they do not become contaminated
P7 identify and report any problems or faults during the cleaning process
P8 identify and deal with unsatisfactory towels in line with organisational procedures
P9 prepare the towels for dispatch following cleaning
Knowledge and Understanding
You need to know and understand:
K1 the machinery, equipment and supplies needed to process cabinet roller towels
K2 what types of problems are met when setting up continuous processing operations, such as re-threading of towels
K3 how to identify common machine faults and who to report them to
K4 how to locate and repair faults or damage in the toweling length
K5 the organisation’s routine maintenance procedures for equipment
K6 the correct loading levels for accumulators
K7 the correct water pressures and spray bar distributions
K8 how to plan your work to make the best use of resources
K9 how to identify potential problems with carrying out the work at the planning stage, and who to report these to
K10 statutory responsibilities under health, safety and environmental legislation and regulations during continuous processing
