Overview


This standard is for those who deliver and collect textile items from customers. You must be able to plan and follow a route, communicate effectively with colleagues and customers, comply with written instructions and have the ability to complete forms, reports and other documentation that are required in the workplace.
This standard is for textile care services collection operatives or drivers.


Performance criteria

You must be able to:


P1 check the vehicle is ready and safe for use and report faults in line with organisational procedures
P2 plan the route order for collection and delivery
P3 load the delivery vehicle with clean items according to in line with organisational procedures
P4 handle items carefully to maintain their cleanliness and avoid contamination
P5 deliver items to the agreed delivery point on the customer’s premises
P6 observe any site regulations while on the customer’s premises
P7 obtain the customer’s acceptance of the delivery and complete any documentation required
P8 handle payments in line with organisational procedures when part of the delivery service
P9 collect soiled items from customers
P10 handle and bag soiled items to ensure you are protected from any hazards
P11 ensure items are secured on to the delivery vehicle to protect drivers from the load weight
P12 report any identified hazards whilst delivering and collecting items
P13 report any issues with the delivery or collection process
P14 deliver soiled items to the designated location for cleaning


Knowledge and Understanding

You need to know and understand:


K1 how to plan the route order for delivery and collection
K2 legal, local and organisational regulations affecting security, health and safety, driving and delivery of goods and materials  
K3 how to use the operational technology required for deliveries and collections
K4 the site regulations on customer’s premises
K5 the procedure for collecting items from customers and what to do if the customer is not there
K6 which customers may have items with known hazards and what they are
K7 how to handle soiled items so that you and they are protected from hazards
K8 why it is important to keep soiled and clean loads separate
K9 when to report issues encountered during the delivery and collection process
