Overview

This standard is about developing colour recipes for initial colour samples.

This includes making colour assessments, formulating a trial recipe and producing initial colour sample. It also includes assessing customer requirements, using colour matching procedures, selecting suitable colorants for the substrates and establishing colourfastness.

This standard is for anyone involved in developing colour recipes and samples.

  6. collect and evaluate colour against specifications
  7. make and record the colour assessment in line with agreed procedures
  8. assess relevant technical information to formulate trial colour recipes
  9. select colorants, auxiliary materials and equipment suitable for substrates and end use of products
  10. identify and select sample production cycles which are compatible with bulk production methods
  11. produce initial colour samples in line with agreed procedures
  12. assess shade requirements and substrate characteristics against specification
  13. confirm that the nature and condition of substrates are suitable for processing
  14. assess samples produced against required standards using relevant colour matching methods
  15. make adjustments when required to achieve required shades
