Overview

This standard is about conducting pre-production trials prior to bulk production.

This includes monitoring the critical path of trial production, selecting materials, components, machinery and equipment for trials, checking the outcomes of trial production against specifications, evaluating the results of trials and providing information for bulk production.

This standard is for those who are involved in the process of carrying
out pre-production trials

Performance criteria

You must be able to:

  3. develop a critical path of activities for each stage of pre-production trials
  4. check that accurate information, complete specifications and relevant samples are available when required
  5. ensure authority has been given for pre-production trials and is communicated to relevant people
  6. carry out pre-production trials in line with work instructions and specifications
  7. monitor and record the progress of products during trial processes
  8. check products made in pre-production trials meets specifications
  9. identify problems and recommend corrective action in line with agreed procedures
