Produce prototype samples
Overview
This standard is about selecting appropriate production methods and interpreting specifications to produce prototype samples.
It includes setting up machinery and equipment for the production of samples, making adjustments to ensure requirements are met and maintaining accurate records and prototype samples in line with organisational procedures.
This standard is for those who are responsible for the production of prototype samples.
Performance criteria
You must be able to:
- work in line with work instructions and sample specifications
- evaluate and select the most efficient way of producing samples to meet specification
- set up and configure machinery to produce samples
- check materials and components for production are available and meet requirements
- check appropriate people are fully informed about the sample making process
- produce samples within required timescales
- evaluate completed samples against specifications
identify and rectify problems with production, materials and components to meet specifications
8. ensure prototype samples meet requirements and specifications
9. label and store finalised samples in agreed places
10. record any amendments to prototype sample specifications and highlight special requirements and problems which occurred during sample production
11. recommend efficient and cost-effective methods for bulk production of products when required
12. evaluate and agree final prototype samples with end users, clients or customers
13. complete and store accurate records and documentation in line with agreed procedures
