Performance criteria

You must be able to:

  1. follow work instructions and specifications at all times
  2. develop effective working methods and procedures to meet quality and quantity requirements
  3. produce accurate information and detailed specifications for bulk production
  4. plan and control cost effective production systems
  5. determine the resources needed to achieve outputs
  6. carry out agreed actions to develop support systems
  7. monitor bulk production processes at agreed intervals
  8. use reliable information to identify the nature of faults and defects and their likely causes
  9. recommend required adjustments to procedures to resolve faults and defects
  10. alter instructions and specifications and adjust processes and materials to rectify faults and defects
  11. monitor output after adjustments to ensure conformity against specification
  12. develop quality systems and documentation to support revisions to quality requirements
  13. complete and store accurate records and documentation in line with agreed procedures

Knowledge and Understanding

You need to know and understand:

  1. how to receive and interpret work instructions and specifications and make use of the information supplied
  2. the resources and systems required to achieve the output
  3. how to establish production outcomes and maintain quality requirements
  4. the production planning and control procedures
  5. the working methods and adjustments to procedures that may be required
  6. the support systems relevant to bulk production
  7. the machine specifications and capabilities and the compatibility of machine and product
  8. how to rectify faults occurring during bulk production and the fault finding principles and techniques used to identify these
  9. how to test machinery and equipment after maintenance and fault rectification
  10. how your specific work activities relate to the whole process and limits of own responsibility
  11. the importance of effective communication with colleagues, the lines of communication, authority and reporting procedures 
  12. the organisation's rules, codes and guidelines including timekeeping and personal hygiene
  13. own organisation's ethical and sustainability policies
  14. the types of records kept for bulk production, including maintenance and fault finding, how they are completed and the importance of accuracy
  15. the importance of complying with instructions, equipment operating procedures, safe working practices and manufacturers' instructions 
  16. statutory responsibilities under health, safety and environmental legislation and regulations
