Overview
This standard is about dealing with production quality problems during manufacturing operations.
This standard includes identifying faults, seeking accurate information about faults, carrying out tests and checks to establish the root cause of faults, taking corrective action and checking the effectiveness of corrective action.
This standard is for anyone who is responsible
for dealing with production quality problems during manufacturing operations.
Performance criteria
You must be able to:
- make sure the work area is free from hazards at all times
- identify and respond to production faults in line with the organisation's procedures
- seek clear and accurate technical and production information about faults and factors affecting performance
- carry out diagnostic test and checks that establish the root cause of faults
- use the results of tests and checks to identify the nature, characteristics and implications of faults on production
- select corrective action that is appropriate to the cause of faults
- negotiate solutions with suppliers of faulty goods at appropriate times
- verify that corrective action has been effective at appropriate times
- comply with written instructions relating to production quality problems
- complete required forms, records and other documentation with accurate information
- work to legal requirements, standards and regulations, policies, procedures and professional codes at all times
