This standard is about carrying out shoe-room operations. This is the final stage in the shoe manufacturing process and involves transforming a lasted or finished product to a saleable item of footwear including checking, pairing and any other required activities such as polishing or lacing.
This standard includes carrying out quality checks on work from previous operations, reporting unresolved quality issues to appropriate people, carrying out shoe room activities in the right sequence, and pairing completed footwear.

Performance criteria
You must be able to:
- make sure the area is free from hazards at all times
- work in line with information on work tickets at all times
- select appropriate equipment and materials for shoe room operations
- check quality of products received from previous operations are within tolerances needed for shoe room activity
- work in ways that minimise waste at all times
- rectify quality issues that are within your area of expertise
- report any quality issues you cannot address to relevant people
- carry out shoe room operations in the correct sequence
- carry out shoe room activities in a way that maintains an acceptable level of work flow
- complete work to required quality standards
- ensure completed shoes are paired up in matching styles, sizes and colours
- handle shoes in ways that minimise risk of damage
- place completed shoes in appropriate packaging
- carry out close-down procedures so work area is clean, safe and secure
- make sure that equipment is left clean and fit for future use
- comply with written instructions relating to shoe room activities
- complete required forms, records and other documentation
