Performance criteria

You must be able to:

  1. make sure work area is free from hazards at all times
  2. use tools and equipment that meet specifications for the work
  3. set up and position tools and equipment in line with safety requirements and manufacturers' instructions
  4. check that tools and equipment for finishing are clean and fit for purpose
  5. check that components meet quality standards
  6. carry out finishing activities in the correct sequence to meet specification requirements
  7. operate tools and equipment in line with health, safety and environmental requirements
  8. using effective methods and techniques to remove excess materials
  9. make sure that original contour is maintained whilst carrying out finishing activities
  10. make sure that surface finishes meet requirements of style being worked on
  11. work in ways that minimise waste at all times
  12. complete work to appropriate quality standards
  13. sort work in appropriate order for following production stages
  14. place completed work in locations that minimise risk of damage
  15. comply with written instructions relating to finishing
  16. complete required forms, records and other documentation
  17. work to legal requirements, standards and regulations, policies, procedures and professional codes at all times
