Overview
This standard is about taking responsibility the identification and collection of waste materials for recycling by a third party. This relates to waste generated during the day-to-day production process, and may include fibre, unfinished and faulty material, off-cuts, faulty items, faulty products, unused yarns, threads, trimmings and components and general waste such as cardboard, plastics, wood, glass and metals
This job role may involve:
1. differentiating between material types
2. identifying reusable, recyclable and non-recyclable waste
3. working with third party recycling processes and criteria
4. understanding the destination of the collected materials for recycling
5. identifying potential cross contamination which can affect the integrity of the recycling
6. labelling, storing and stockpiling waste materials to be recycled
7. oversee collection of recyclable waste
8. compliance with social, economic and environmental principles of sustainability

P2 collect materials suitable for recycling
P3 redirect recyclable waste to the recyclable waste collection area
P4 safely dispose of non-recyclable or non-reusable waste
P5 follow safety procedures for removal and storage of recyclable waste
P6 use personal protective equipment when handling waste
P7 identify and report hazardous materials and items
P8 sort, classify and store recyclable waste materials as specified by the third party recycler
P9 label all waste clearly, including waste type, detail and destiny
P9 share information relating to recyclable waste across all manufacturing departments
P10 report plant, process and equipment, issues that may compromise the recycling process
P12 record work in compliance with company procedures
P13 prepare recyclable waste for shipment or collection to/by the third party
P14 oversee collection of recyclable waste
P15 adhere to workplace legal and compliance requirements associated with the social, economic and environmental principles of sustainability
