Overview

This standard is about taking responsibility for the identification, collection and collation of waste materials generated during day-to-day fashion and textiles manufacturing activities and directing back into the production process.

Waste may include unfinished and faulty material, off-cuts, faulty items, faulty products, unused yarns, threads, trimmings and components or general waste such as cardboard, plastics, wood, glass and metals.

This job role may involve:
1.     differentiating between material types
2.     differentiating between reusable, recyclable and non-recyclable waste   
3.     identifying were, within internal production waste can be reused
4.     diverting waste back into the production process
5.     identifying potential cross contamination which can affect the integrity of the
reprocessing
6.     labelling, storing and stockpiling waste materials for reuse
7.     following the companies recycling and waste disposal processes
8.     compliance with social, economic and environmental principles of sustainability.

P1   identify and redirect reusable and recyclable waste materials
P2   safely dispose of non-recyclable or non-reusable waste
P3   follow safety procedures for removal of waste
P4   use personal protective equipment when handling waste
P5   identify and report hazardous materials and items
P6   sort materials suitable for potential reuse, avoiding cross contamination of material
types and potential damage.
P7   report and confirm suitability for re-use to production management  
P8   organise and store reusable waste as specified by departments involved in the
reprocessing of the material
P9   label waste clearly, including waste types, destiny and/or reuse details
P9 share information across all departments involved in the reprocessing of
      waste materials
P10 distribute waste materials back into the production process
P11 report plant, process and equipment, issues that may compromise reuse of the
materials
P12 maintain a safe working environment for storing reusable materials r
P13 record work in compliance company procedure
P14 adhere to workplace legal and compliance requirements associated with the social,
economic and environmental principles of sustainabilit
