Overview

This standard includes configuration of performance analysis infrastructure and analysing the outputs from cloud system monitoring. It also includes handling alerts as well as improvement activities for software optimisation, power optimisation, performance and efficiency analysis. This also includes working with cloud service providers to optimise the cloud computing stack.

Performance criteria

You must be able to:

  1. Assess cloud services performance metrics and trends  against organisational standards
  2. Schedule pro-active maintenance of cloud services to maintain cloud services performance within tolerances
  3. Develop cloud optimisation proposals to automate and improve cloud services performance based on cost, performance and scale criteria
  4. Implement upgrades to cloud services infrastructure to optimise system performance
  5. Test that cloud services upgrades deliver the intended business improvements

Knowledge and Understanding

You need to know and understand:

  1. Why it is important to monitor the performance of cloud applications
  2. The procedures to follow when analysing the functionality, availability and response times of cloud systems
  3. That dynamic cloud task scheduling algorithms can provide performance improvements for cloud services
  4. The organisation's policies and standards relating to cloud services performance analysis and optimisation
  5. The factors involved in developing preventative maintenance schedules and cloud performance improvement plans
  6. The automation tools and techniques that can be applied to cloud services to improve performance
  7. Why it is important to test all cloud services following  upgrades to check that there is no deterioration in functionality, availability and response times
