This standard is about configuring a digital system through selecting and adding digital devices to form a small networked digital system.

Performance criteria
You must be able to:
Update software for devices to maintain performance
Connect devices to Wi-Fi hotspots to provide online connectivity during roaming
Implement automated backup routines to provide data protection
Install and configure software applications from cloud or digital media to meet new requirements
Implement cloud data storage to provide improved data accessibility
Check for and implement operating system and software updates and patches to keep software updated
Implement updates to keep component software drivers up to date
Respond to error messages to identify problems in digital systems
Take appropriate action to resolve routine IT problems in line with organisational guidelines
Set up user accounts and permissions on digital devices and software applications to maintain privacy and security
Restore digital devices to clean factory settings in line with vendor procedures
Restore data files from stored backup data in line with organisational procedures

How to identify the current operating system version and device specification (processor, memory and disk drive capacity) for a digital device

- How to locate and use system troubleshooting guides
- The tests that can be used to check that digital systems are working correctly
- The importance of backing up files and folders and when to do this
- How to locate and load backup data to restore files
