What this standard is about
This standard covers developing and implementing continuous improvement of management processes. It is about ensuring all colleagues buy into the process of continuous improvement and feel they can contribute to the process. It is important that the whole organisation supports continuous improvement and the benefits are communicated in a way which motivates staff.
You will need to set clear objectives and plans to introduce improved management processes along with determining criteria by which the improvements can be evaluated.

This standard is suitable for managers and team leaders who have responsibility for embedding continuous improvement into their work areas
Performance criteria
You must be able to:
- Carry out a review of management processes in your work area for which you are responsible
- Develop a culture across work areas or sites where colleagues come forward with potential and actual performance problems and suggested opportunities for improvement
- Identify opportunities to improve management processes to meet your organisational objectives
- Develop plans for implementing a programme of continuous improvement
- Develop Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic and Time-bound (SMART) objectives and schedules for the introduction of revised management processes
- Identify the factors that help and hinder the introduction of change
- Support colleagues with the changes and improvements providing updates on activity to the appropriate person
- Work with colleagues to implement changes and embed continuous improvement in their work
- Communicate the benefits of continuous improvement and the role of colleagues in this
- Plan how the proposed improvements will be evaluated identifying appropriate benchmarks and lessons learnt
