You must be able to:

  2. check the components to make sure everything is available for use
  3. assemble the set in line with industry standards and production requirements
  4. clarify information if any instructions are unclear
  5. use safe handling, lifting and lowering techniques in line with legislation, organisational requirements and codes of practice
  6. identify and deal with any issues whilst setting up sets in line with legislation, organisational requirements and codes of practice
  7. confirm that the set is safe and compliant
  8. work in line with legislation, organisational requirements and codes of practice concerning the setting up and installation of sets

Knowledge and Understanding

You need to know and understand:

  1. how to read and interpret technical drawings to instal the sets
  2. the production requirements, constraints and deadlines
  3. stage terminology and its meaning including upstage, downstage, stage left and stage right
  4. the symbols, terminologies and conventions used for electrical, mechanical or electronic drawings and specifications
  5. how to check that all the components are available as planned
  6. the procedures and techniques for safe manual handling, lifting and lowering
  7. who the person responsible for the set installation and giving instructions is
  8. why it is important to take instructions from that person only
  9. safety protocols to be used during set installation
  10. the issues that may occur when installing sets and how to deal with these
  11. the importance of leaving the work area safe and tidy and how to do so
  12. legislation, organisational requirements and codes of practice concerning the setting up and installation of sets
