Overview
This standard is about creating multimedia content for use across multiple platforms and distribution services and briefing others to do so.
It is about designing and creating content, combining text and audio with other digital assets such as video to engage audiences across all platforms and devices; complementing, supporting and promoting radio and audio content.
This standard is for those who produce multimedia content for radio or audio.
Performance criteria
You must be able to:
- identify the types of platform and devices for delivering multimedia content and their relative importance from radio or audio production information
- identify the characteristics, behaviour and expectations of target audiences from radio or audio production information
- specify resources to maintain the multimedia content throughout its duration
- work within agreed budgets and timescales
- provide content for online, social media and other use in an easily understood format to meet the needs of target audiences
- use software to prepare radio or audio content for online and other media platform uses
- upload radio or audio content and make it available to relevant people
- source, select or commission relevant visual material to support online content
- prepare visual images and video so that they are ready for online use
- monitor the work of others to ensure that any multimedia content produced meets production requirements
- ensure that the use of any music or copyright material is recorded in line with requirements

You need to know and understand:
- the relevant available technology, its practical uses and creative potential
- the context and purpose of the multimedia content for multi-platform use
- how to ascertain and evaluate different audiences for multimedia content, and their expectations
- how to write content for online use
- how to use audio encoding software, and upload radio or audio content
- the techniques for radio and audio visualisation and additional assets which could form part of the content including video clips or images to supplement audio and text
- how content is to be sourced; whether existing content is to be adapted or new material to be created
- what licenses, clearances and permissions are required, and how to obtain them
- reporting requirements for the use of music and copyright material
- types of supporting visual material including photographs, graphics and video
