Advise production from a post production perspective
Overview
This Standard is about advising production on the contribution that post production will be able to make, technically and creatively, to a project. It is a very important part of the process which helps avoid unnecessary difficulties in post production when filming or sound recording and ensuring technically satisfactory outputs are created, especially when working with multiple transcodes. This Standard will mainly apply to those at a managerial level but could apply to anyone in post production who is responsible for advising production.
Performance criteria
You must be able to:
evaluate what clients expect or need from post production against
what is feasible and within budget
- analyse production plans, workflow, budget and schedule using
information from reliable sources
- identify whether production plans will enable planned post
production processes and achievement of the specified final look
- identify whether planned production deliverables will be
compatible and meet specification for post production processes
and that back up policies are followed
- brief others at appropriate times on the implications of different
approaches to media capture on post production
- make suggestions for production changes that allow post
production functions to enhance the creative qualities of projects
- propose changes that make overall projects more technically or
commercially viable
- maintain security of files and other material in line with company
requirements
