Overview

This Standard is about delivering production outputs in line with agreements.  It involves verifying requirements, checking that systems are compatible, producing outputs in agreed formats with appropriate metadata and delivering outputs in required timescales.

This Standard could apply to anyone involved with delivering production outputs following post production.

Performance criteria

You must be able to:

  1. obtain up-to-date and final versions of agreements for distribution or delivery from reliable sources
  2. identify requirements for reversioning that comply with agreements
  3. agree formats and metadata requirements that comply with agreements before commencing work
  4. use reliable information to verify that systems are compatible with those of distributors/broadcasters
  5. keep relevant people informed of delivery timescales at all stages
  6. deliver production outputs in line with agreements
  7. produce outputs in line with industry standards that are appropriate for the territory being supplied
  8. deliver outputs to distributors/broadcasters using appropriate systems
  9. deliver outputs in line with expected timescales

Knowledge and Understanding

You need to know and understand:

  1. where to obtain current distribution or delivery agreements
  2. how to interpret the technical expectations and requirements specified in agreements
  3. current viewing standards, technical broadcast standards and current professional, national and international deliverable standards and expressions of best practice for different platforms
  4. delivery systems being used by distributorsbroadcasters
  5. common issues that might occur when sending deliverables to distributors/broadcasters and how to combat them
  6. formats required for different territories
  7. the principles of coding and transcoding
  8. the importance of metadata and how to manage it through the digital workflow
  9. how to use cloud based and other delivery systems
  10. how to communicate with distributors, broadcasters, producers and facilities houses ​
