Overview
This Standard is about following the digital workflow to produce work that meets quality requirements. It is about not seeing your own work in isolation and bringing to the attention of others any potential problems with workflow that you identify.This Standard could apply to anyone involved in digital production.
Performance criteria
You must be able to:
- evaluate the practical implications of the choices you make in your role against the digital workflow and quality requirements
- carry out your own work with media in ways that comply with the digital workflow and quality requirements
- identify when your work with media will impact on the work of others in the digital workflow
- communicate problems with digital formats in clear terms to appropriate people
- maintain the security of the media with which you are working in line with organisational procedures
Knowledge and Understanding
You need to know and understand:
- where to obtain copies of the workflow for the project on which you are working
- the importance of working to an agreed workflow
- the interrelationship between your role and the roles of others in the digital workflow
- what is expected of you in terms of your work with media
- the compatibilities and formats required to achieve minimal transcoding
- the system and naming conventions to use to ensure version control
- how to use own technical skills and experience to add value to the process
- why it is important to communicate potential problems to others before they occur
- how to communicate technical issues to those with less technical understanding of your area than yourself
- the impact of the choices you make on the digital workflow
- where to seek information about technical aspects of which you are unclear
- lines of reporting and responsibility for digital workflow at all stages of production
- organisational procedures relating to security of media
- the importance of adapting to change and refreshing your own skills in relation to digital production​
