Overview
This standard is for those who produce samples following given
specifications for different styles, fabric and make up.
The job role may involve:

P4 analyse materials and equipment specified to ensure that they are
available
P5 report unavailable items and resources to the appropriate person
P6 confirm your ability to complete the sample
P7 prepare machinery as required in the specifications
P8 identify and select appropriate thread, needle and work aids
P9 identify, mark and divide components
P10 identify and report missing components
P11 cut missing or damaged components if necessary
P12 identify and select appropriate sewing techniques
P13 use suitable handling techniques and work methods to achieve
specifications
P14 order and prioritise the sequence of the garments make-up
P15 critically examine sample garments throughout the sample
production process
P16 use safe working practices that conform to current codes of
practice
P17 identify and report issues with components, design, materials
P18 diagnose equipment faults correctly and take appropriate corrective
action
P19 confirm that finished samples meet specifications and quality
standards
P20 complete samples within the timescales specified
P21 complete appropriate records and documents
P22 identify problems and resolve issues within limits of your own
responsibility
P23 report problems outside area of responsibility to the appropriate
person
P24 work to legal requirements, standards and regulations, policies,
procedures and professional codes
