Overview


This standard describes the competence that practitioners working within the community require to source relevant funding streams and submit bids to support new, different, or more opportunities for sport and physical activity in the community. It involves understanding the funding landscape and accessing funding opportunities. It also focuses on the relevant actions and procedures involved in writing and submitting bids. 

This standard is for all practitioners working within the community.


Performance criteria

You must be able to:


1. identify sources of funding to enable more opportunities for sport and physical activity in the community
2. ensure potential funding sources are compatible with own organisation’s values and objectives
3. evaluate the suitability of the funding against the bid criteria specified in the invitation to tender and establish the percentage of likelihood of being successful
4. propose a potential strategy, solutions, and approaches to the bid in consultation with others to maximise success chances 
5. create a bid schedule, showing resources, key milestones, deadlines, review dates and deliverables
6. confirm bid submission requirements, agree, and develop the presentation format for the bid by using the relevant templates
7. adopt clear and consistent writing styles using the language appropriate for the audience
8. define your organisation's unique selling propositions, key differentiator(s), solutions, and benefits to demonstrate how the offer adds value and meets or exceeds funder's requirements
9. draft the bid in line with the bid criteria
10. present draft bids to others to gain feedback  
11. submit the bid in line with the bid plan and obtain confirmation of receipt
12. record all aspects of the bid outcome for future practice
13. outline a clear monitoring and evaluation system to evaluate the bid outcome
14. operate within your scope of practice and in accordance with the guidelines
15. follow current legislation, guidelines, policies, procedures and protocols which are relevant to your work practice and to which you must adhere

You need to know and understand:



1. how to identify sources of funding for sport and physical activity in the community
2. the importance of working with national governing bodies, sport partnerships, community, voluntary sector to support funding opportunities
3. business values and objectives 
4. the community needs in relation to potential funding 
5. how to obtain the information required to develop a bid plan
6. the relevant principles of bid suitability and evaluation against the criteria specified in the proposal
7. how to interpret assessment/scoring criteria and evaluate the likelihood of success
8. how to develop your organisation's strategic plan to amplify the service development potential
9. how to select and apply the most appropriate format, design and writing style for a bid and document planning approaches
10. the submission requirements, relevant actions, and solutions in relation to bid opportunity
11. how to draw on research and feedback from others to use as part of the drafting process
12. the bid submission processes 
13. the relevant techniques for assessing your organisation’s unique selling points, unique selling propositions, key differentiator(s), solutions, and benefits
14. clear monitoring and evaluation systems 
15. the scope and limitations of your own competence, responsibilities, and accountability as it applies to your job role
16. current legislation, guidelines, policies, procedures and protocols which are relevant to your work practice and to which you must adhere
