Review and Evaluate Coaching Programmes in Sport and Physical Activity
Overview
This standard is about monitoring, evaluating and improving structured coaching programmes delivered over an agreed period of time within sport and physical activity contexts.
It applies to coaches working in environments including community sport, education-based activity, club settings and structured participation programmes. The coach uses planned methods and relevant evidence to assess programme effectiveness, review participant needs, progress, outcomes and feedback, involve participants and others in the review process, and inform improvements to future sessions and programme development.
The coach uses evaluation findings to support continuous improvement within defined professional and organisational boundaries.
Performance criteria
You must be able to:
- Work in accordance with relevant legislation, organisational policies and codes of conduct applicable to the coaching context.
- Implement planned and appropriate methods to monitor and review coaching programmes, using relevant evidence to assess participant needs, progress, responses and outcomes.
- Collect and analyse relevant qualitative and quantitative evidence on participant experience, progress and programme effectiveness.
- Involve participants and others in the evaluation process in line with programme aims, context and organisational procedures.
- Evaluate programme outcomes against agreed aims, goals and success criteria.
- Record, summarise and report evaluation findings in accordance with organisational requirements.
- Develop evidence-based recommendations to improve coaching programmes and better meet participant needs.
- Implement agreed improvements to current and future coaching programmes within own role and responsibility.
- Evaluate own professional practice in relation to programme outcomes and identify development needs.
Knowledge and Understanding
