Overview

This standard is about providing simple skin camouflage. It also covers the use of a variety of specialist camouflage products designed to restore the skin's colouring to match the unaffected skin tone.

To carry out this standard you will need to maintain effective health, safety and hygiene throughout your work. You will also need to maintain your personal appearance and demonstrate effective communication and consultation skills.

Redness to the skin caused by irritation, or injury to the tissue.

Fitzpatrick Classification System

Devised in 1975 at Harvard University, this is a skin classification system measured on a scale of 1 to 6, based on photosensitivity reaction to ultra violet radiation.

Hyperpigmentation

Excessive colouration in comparison to the surrounding skin due to excess melanin (for example age spots, freckles, stretch marks, sun tan, melasma and chloasma).

Hypopigmentation

Loss of colouration in comparison to the surrounding skin area (for example leucoderma, stretch marks, scarring, vitiligo).
