Replenish automated teller machines (ATMs)
Overview
This NOS is aimed at people providing a cash and valuables transit service.
Performance criteria
You must be able to:
obtain sufficient relevant information of day’s schedule for ATM replenishment from reliable sources
check you have sufficient stocks of documentation supplies and equipment required for ATM replenishment
wear personal protective equipment, properly adjusted, as specified in company procedures
check that you have the required identification documentation, as specified in company procedures, before leaving the depot
resolve preparation problems that are within the limits of your authority and responsibility as specified in company procedures
report preparation problems that you cannot deal with, in accordance with company procedures
use safety and security equipment for ATM replenishment, as specified in company procedures
transfer amounts of cash to ATMs that comply with maximum values that can be transferred to or from vehicles stated in company procedures
maintain communication with colleagues, departments and third parties during ATM replenishment in compliance with approved company procedures
maintain vigilance at all times, reporting suspicious activity in line with company procedures
use safe manual handling methods at all times
operate security systems at customer premises during and after replenishment in line with company procedures
follow safety and security procedures at all times in order to minimise risk to self, others and the consignment
carry out replenishment service as specified in your schedule
resolve ATM operational problems in line with company procedures
and within the limits of your responsibility, authority and capability
provide required data from ATMs in accordance with customer requirements and company procedures
record and report discrepancies identified during replenishment on approved documentation and in line with company procedures
remove surplus items from ATMs and store them in line with company procedures
carry out replacement of ATM consumables as specified in company procedures
verify operational effectiveness of ATMs prior to leaving customers’ premises and in line with company procedures
Knowledge and Understanding
You need to know and understand:

- documents for ATM replenishment required by your company and the financial institution
- identification documents you are required to carry and the action you should take if you do not have any of them
- supplies required for ATM replenishment and how to obtain them
- personal protective equipment for use both inside and outside of vehicles, company procedures for obtaining it and correct ways to wear and adjust it
- safety and security equipment to use when transferring items to or from vehicles, how to use them and what action to take if they do not function correctly
- how to use communication equipment, and what action you should take if communication equipment does not function correctly
Company procedures
- procedures for dealing with items removed from ATMs including how to store them securely and where to return them to
- insurance limits and maximum values that can be transferred to and from vehicles
- company procedures for dealing with suspicious behaviour and the sorts of activity that might be considered suspicious
- how you should communicate with colleagues during collections and deliveries
- what action you should take if you identify discrepancies when carrying out cash replenishment, the information you may be required to produce and who should receive this information
- how to lift and handle goods safely
- the limits of your authority and responsibility to resolve operational problems
- procedures for reporting problems that fall outside your authority and responsibility

- the functions and features of security systems and alarms at customers' premises and how to arm and disarm them
- the different types of cash replenishment service required by customers
- the process for loading cassettes into ATMs, and the identification process used by your company and customers to identify the denomination of notes in cassettes
- how to carry out ATM replenishment safely, efficiently and effectively
- how to ensure that ATMs are functioning correctly, and what action you should take if there are problems with machines
