Overview

This NOS sets out the skills, knowledge and understanding for you to carry out end of day duties.

The NOS covers the following activities:

  1. Unload vehicles

  2. Prepare and close down vehicles and equipment for next duty

  3. Complete end of duty reports

his NOS is aimed at people providing a cash and valuables transit service.


Performance criteria

You must be able to:


Unload vehicles

  1. obtain authorisation from appropriate people before entering designated unloading areas 

  2. position vehicles safely within designated unloading areas 

  3. confirm that quantity of items being unloaded agrees with relevant documentation

  4. check that all containers have been cleared from all areas of vehicle in accordance with company procedures

  5. take appropriate and approved action when discrepancies during unloading are identified

  6. complete relevant unloading documentation with accurate and legible information, submitting this in accordance with your company procedures

  7. transfer responsibility for consignments to authorised people, obtaining signatures on relevant documentation

  8. comply with all relevant legal, safety and operating requirements

**Prepare and close down vehicles and equipment for next duty

**
9. refuel vehicles, including additives when necessary, in accordance with manufacturers’ operating instructions and company procedures

  1. park vehicles in safe and secure positions as specified in company procedures

  2. activate safety and security devices in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions and company procedures

  3. identify, report and record identified defects, damage and hazards to appropriate people using approved company procedures and documentation

  4. remove all equipment and personal items from vehicles in accordance with company procedures 

  5. maintain safety of self and others whilst preparing and closing down vehicles and equipment

**Complete end of duty reports

15. confirm that all collections and deliveries have been completed in accordance with each day’s schedule

  1. confirm that all necessary documentation has been completed and signed and retained by relevant people

  2. complete drivers’ records and check they comply with relevant legislation, regulation and codes of practice

  3. report issues relating to operational security in accordance with your operational and company procedures

  4. report damage or defects to vehicles or equipment in accordance with operational and company procedures

  5. report customer feedback in accordance with operational and company procedures



Knowledge and Understanding

You need to know and understand:

**Unload vehicles**
1. company procedures for entering the secure areas for unloading 2. what actions you should take in the event of **discrepancies** being identified during unloading 3. what documentation you are required to complete with what information  4. who should receive completed documentation and the timescales 5. safe handling and moving techniques 6. company procedures for handing over responsibility for consignments 7. how to maintain the safety of yourself and others 8. what action you should take in the event of risks to safety ** Prepare and close down vehicles and equipment for next duty ** 9. company procedures for refuelling vehicles 10. company procedures for reporting and recording damage and defects 11. where vehicles should be parked at the end of each day’s duty ** Complete end of duty reports ** 12. the documentation you are required to complete, who to submit it to and the required timescales 13. current relevant legislation, regulation and codes of practice relating to drivers hours and tachograph records 14. company procedures for reporting vehicle defects, equipment defects and customer feedback 15. what issues relating to operational security would need to be reported, and the procedure for doing so
