Overview

This NOS sets out the skills, knowledge and understanding for you to safely move cash and valuables.

The NOS covers the following activities:


  1. Carry out secure cross pavement transfer of cash and valuables 

  2. Carry out customer collections and deliveries of cash and valuables

  3. Respond to emergencies during transfer of cash and valuables 


This NOS is aimed at people providing a cash and valuables transit service.


Performance criteria

You must be able to:



*Carry out secure cross pavement transfer of cash and valuables *

  1. select and use the appropriate safety and security equipment for the collections and deliveries, in accordance with company procedures

  2. wear appropriate personal protective equipment, properly adjusted, as specified in company procedures

  3. comply with company limits for maximum values that can be transferred to and from vehicles 

  4. maintain contact with colleagues or depot during collections and deliveries as specified in company procedures 

  5. maintain vigilance at all times, reporting any suspicious activity in line with company procedures

  6. apply safe handling and lifting methods at all times

  7. minimise risk to self, others and consignments as per company procedures

8. check that customer representatives you deal with are authorised as per company procedures

  1. establish that collections and deliveries comply with documentation

  2. show appropriate identification when requested to do so

  3. complete all collection and delivery documentation with  accurate information that is in line with approved company procedures and documentation

  4. take appropriate action to resolve discrepancies with collections and deliveries in accordance with company procedures

  5. comply with company limits for maximum values that can be transferred to or from vehicles

    Respond to emergencies during transfer of cash and valuables

14. use recognised communication tools to communicate clear and concise information relating to emergencies to customers, colleagues or emergency services, as soon as practical

  1. take appropriate and approved action to respond to emergencies in line with company procedures

  2. record relevant information about emergencies, using company procedures and documentation

  3. abort deliveries or collections when necessary, making arrangements to complete at a later time

  4. maintain the security and safety of yourself, others and consignments as per company procedures

You need to know and understand:


Safety and security equipment

  1. what items of safety and security equipment should be used when transferring items to and from vehicles
  2. how to use safety and security equipment and what action you should take if it does not function correctly
  3. what items of personal protective equipment you should wear inside and outside vehicles

  4. how to check that personal protective equipment is properly adjusted in order to maintain your safety and security

**Maximum values

5. company procedures relating to insurance limits and maximum values that can be transferred to and from vehicles

  1. vehicle indemnity limits, and the implications when these limits are exceeded

  2. what action you should take if collections and deliveries exceed maximum values that can be transferred to and from vehicles

**Communication

8. how to communicate with colleagues during collections and deliveries

  1. how to use communication equipment, and what you should do it does not function correctly

  2. how to use recognised communication tools to ensure that your communication is clear and concise

**Routine procedures

11. how to identify authorised customer representatives, and who to refer to if you are in any doubt

  1. what documentation you are required to complete relating to collections and deliveries, and the information required 

  2. who should be in receipt of documentation, and the timescales for completion 

  3. safe, efficient and effective methods for carrying out collections and deliveries

  4. how to lift and handle goods safely
