Overview

This standard is about developing, communicating and implementing a compliance policy for your freight transport operation to safeguard the operator's licence. This includes understanding the requirements of operator's licence compliance in order to develop a policy. It also includes communicating the requirements and the importance of the policy to colleagues, and checking they understand their role in the process.

This standard is for the Operator, who is the licence holder, and the internal or external Transport Manager, who is held responsible for the operator's licence compliance.


Performance criteria

You must be able to:

P1    identify the requirements for compliance with the freight transport operator's licence

P2    define the responsibilities and accountabilities of colleagues in your freight transport operation to safeguard the freight transport operator's licence

P3    develop a compliance policy for your freight transport operation to cover relevant regulations and organisational procedures

P4    develop methods and measures for monitoring and evaluating performance against the freight transport operator’s compliance policy

P5    manage colleagues and resources when necessary to meet the requirements of the freight transport operator’s licence compliance policy

P6    confirm that your organisation's strategic and operational plans are consistent with the freight transport operator’s compliance policy

P7    communicate the requirements of the compliance policy to colleagues and confirm their commitment to maintaining compliance

P8    develop a training programme for colleagues to cover knowledge and understanding of the relevant operator’s licence requirements that apply to them and their work

P9    agree an implementation plan with colleagues for your organisation’s compliance policy

P10    implement and monitor the compliance policy in accordance with the agreed organisational plans
