- Confirm that any special requirements or instructions are clearly specified
- Provide relevant information to all those involved with the transportation of goods by rail
- Provide instructions on marking, labelling, packaging and the segregation of goods as per contract
- Obtain information on how to monitor the transportation of goods by rail
- Monitor the progress of arranging the transportation of goods by rail
