Overview
This standard is about undertaking post-journey reports and checks that are required on completion of a delivery schedule. It involves checking documentation, checking the condition of the vehicle and confirming that faults or damage have been reported. It includes managing returned loads and re-tasking or rescheduling of the driver or vehicle, if required.
This standard is relevant to all operatives at every level in logistics operations. Operatives could, for example, be working in warehousing and storage, transport or freight forwarding.
Performance criteria
You must be able to:
- confirm the return of a vehicle post-journey, in accordance with operational and organisational procedures
- undertake checks on the condition of a vehicle, on completion of a delivery schedule
- report faults or defects found on the vehicle, following your organisation's procedures
- undertake checks on documentation and other records relating to the driver and vehicle, confirming that they comply with the relevant legal, operational and organisational procedures
- re-task or reschedule drivers and vehicles as a result of the report prepared by the driver
- manage and arrange return loads, in accordance with operational and organisational procedures
- comply with organisational procedures and all the relevant legal, safety and operating requirements
- communicate information relevant to post-journey reports and checks to colleagues and customers
