Performance criteria

You must be able to:

1.    maintain the health and safety of yourself and others at all times, in line with the relevant legislation and organisational requirements
2.    identify hazards and assess risks as you carry out the activity, and wear the appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) where required
3.    confirm that the relevant training has been received to carry out the work, recognise the limits of your competence and seek access to further training where required
4.    comply with the policies and procedures of the organisation and the relevant legal and organisational requirements relating to the collection and delivery of goods
5.    identify and confirm the requirements and constraints of the goods to be transported
6.    establish a point of contact where collection and delivery point details can be confirmed
7.    obtain information from colleagues and customers regarding the physical access and security requirements of the collection and delivery points
8.    obtain information from colleagues and customers on the health, safety and any environmental issues relating to the collection and delivery points
9.    determine limitations or restrictions that may affect the suitability of collection and delivery points for goods
10.    obtain information from colleagues and customers on the loading and unloading facilities at collection and delivery points, taking into consideration the type of goods and vehicle being used
11.    identify when specialist equipment is required for loading and unloading goods
12.    confirm the suitability of collection and delivery points
13.    deal effectively with issues that arise within the scope and limitations of your own responsibilities, and report issues which cannot be resolved, in line with organisational procedures 
14.    complete and store all required documentation and records in line with relevant legal requirements and organisational procedures
