Overview

This standard covers the competences you need to maintain stocks of resources, equipment and consumables for Non-Destructive Testing.  Stocks may include, but are not restricted to, analysers, equipment, instruments, electrical or electronic components, technical consumables or chemicals.

You will select and use relevant knowledge, ideas and skills to complete well-defined, and generally routine, tasks and address straightforward problems. Your responsibilities will require you to comply with organisational policy and procedures and to report any problems with activities or equipment that you cannot resolve or which are outside your permitted authority. You will take personal responsibility for your actions and for the quality and accuracy of the work that you carry out.

You will know about the NDT (Non Destructive Testing) technical equipment, materials and consumables in adequate depth to provide a sound background for carrying out the activities to the required specification. You will know how to interpret job instructions and ideas and be aware of the types of resources that are relevant to the technical activities.  You will understand the safety precautions required when carrying out the activities and will understand the responsibility you owe to yourself and others in the workplace.
