Overview

This standard covers the competences you need to carry out routine maintenance, cleaning and checking of the technical equipment used for Non Destructive Testing. Technical equipment might be, but is not restricted to, chemical, electronic, weighing and measuring, information technology or engineering equipment and can include relevant instruments.

You will select and use relevant knowledge, ideas and skills to complete well-defined, and generally routine, tasks and address straightforward problems. Your responsibilities will require you to comply with organisational policy and procedures and to report any problems with activities or equipment that you cannot resolve or which are outside your permitted authority. You will take personal responsibility for your actions and for the quality and accuracy of the work that you carry out.

You will know about NDT (Non Destructive Testing) technical equipment, materials and consumables in adequate depth to provide a sound background for carrying out the activities to the required specification. You will know how to interpret job instructions and ideas and be aware of the types of resources that are relevant to these scientific or technical activities. You will understand the safety precautions required when carrying out the technical activities and will understand the responsibility you owe to yourself and others in the workplace.

This standard is for anyone who carries out routine maintenance, cleaning and checking of Non Destructive Testing equipment.
