The standard covers the skills and knowledge required to produce lined and interlined curtains. This includes:

Performance criteria

You must be able to:

  1. comply with health, safety and environmental requirements, relevant statutory regulations and industry standards/codes of practice at all times
  2. identify and confirm specification for work being undertaken
  3. work with colleagues to achieve specifications
  4. carry out work to required quality and output to meet production schedules and targets
  5. select fabrics for curtain construction to meet specifications
  6. select fabric types for curtain lining to meet specifications
  7. cut fabrics and linings to specified measurements
  8. construct curtains using measurements and methods to meet specifications
  9. apply suitable stitch, tension and methods to machine finish sections of curtains following company procedures and manufacturers instructions
  10. machine stitch to specified measurements to meet specifications
  11. check there is no visible disturbance to curtain fronts when stitching following standard operating procedures
  12. hand stitch to specified measurements following company procedures
  13. finish stitching following company procedures
  14. apply locking stitching to secure lining and interlining to the main fabric to meet specifications
  15. construct hems to meet specifications
  16. secure hems without visible disturbance to curtain fronts to meet specifications
  17. measure, space and construct hand-stitched curtain headings to meet specifications
  18. identify problems and deal with them according to standard operating procedures
  19. record information in the appropriate information systems
