This includes:

Performance criteria
You must be able to:
- move loads and objects in accordance with safe manual handling principles
- use manual handling aids and equipment in accordance with safe manual handling principles
- select safe and efficient routes for moving items
- wear assigned personal protective equipment when moving loads
- move loads in accordance with safe and approved handling techniques
- resolve problems within own area of personal responsibility
- report problems outside own personal responsibility to resolve to designated personnel
Knowledge and Understanding
You need to know and understand:
- potential injuries and ill health associated with incorrect manual handing
- employers and employees duties relating to manual handling at work
- consequences for non-compliance with health and safety requirements at work
- terms 'hazard' and 'risk' in the context of manual handling work
- process for carrying out a manual handling risk assessment
- principle of the risk control hierarchy when applied to manual handling
- safe movement principles associated with manual handling
- types of equipment designed to be used for manual handling tasks
