Assist in preparing resources for electrification and plant engineering activities
Overview
This standard is about assisting in preparing resources for electrification and plant engineering activities. You will be able to work to a plan and identify what resources are required and source information regarding those resources. You will also ensure that there are sufficient resources available for the activities to be undertaken and that the resources are used safely, appropriately and in a timely manner.
This is about assisting in the preparation of resources for electrification and plant engineering activities which may include maintenance, fault finding and/or installation work on electrification and plant equipment, assets and components. You will work to a plan and will ensure the required resources are available and fit for purpose, including obtaining all the necessary documentation and reporting to your line manager/supervisor.
Performance criteria
You must be able to:
P1 maintain safe working practices and comply with all relevant health and safety regulations, directives, and guidelines
P2 identify the resources to be used
P3 ensure sufficient resources are available
P4 prepare resources for engineering activities
P5 respond to actual and predicted changes in the planned use of resources, as per your organisation's guidelines
P6 take responsibility for the care and use of the resources within the limits of your own authority
Knowledge and Understanding
You need to know and understand:
K1 the relevant health and safety regulations, directives, guidelines, and safe working practices and procedures as defined by your organisation
K2 the types of resources available, including as appropriate:
K2.1 Documentation – current and appropriate
K2.2 Tools and equipment- calibrated and serviceable
K2.3 Materials, assets and components
K2.4 Communications equipment
K2.5 Personnel - total required and competence
K3 how to obtain up-to-date information on engineering activities and the resources required
K4 how to obtain up-to-date documentation on the resources to be used
K5 your organisation's procedures for the care and use of resources, including tools and equipment identification and calibration
K6 how to follow the relevant schedules and instructions
K7 how the planned use of resources could alter and the implications that may follow
K8 the relevant reporting lines and procedures that are approved by your organisation
K9 the limits of your own authority and responsibility and those of others involved
