Overview

This standard is about monitoring and maintaining in-flight systems and equipment. This involves conducting pre-flight checks of systems and equipment, operating and maintaining the systems and equipment and instructing cabin crew on how their use, and dealing with broken, damaged or faulty systems and equipment.

This standard is for senior cabin crew.

When you have completed this standard, you will be able to demonstrate your knowledge of and ability to:

Performance criteria

You must be able to:

1. Undertake all pre-flight checks of in-flight systems and equipment according to the airline's procedure 2. Operate, monitor and maintain all in-flight systems and equipment according to your organisation's procedure 3. Instruct cabin crew on how to use and maintain in-flight systems and equipment 4. Monitor how cabin crew use and maintain in-flight systems and equipment 5. Take action to deal with broken, damaged or faulty in-flight systems and equipment in line with the airline’s procedures 6. Complete documentation relating to in-flight systems and equipment in line with the airline’s procedures

Knowledge and Understanding

You need to know and understand:

1. The airline’s procedures for conducting pre-flight systems and equipment checks, including recording and reporting procedures 2. How to operate, monitor and maintain in-flight systems and equipment 3. How to instruct cabin crew on how to use and maintain in-flight systems and equipment 4. The importance of monitoring how cabin crew use and maintain in-flight systems and equipment 5. The common types of aircraft cabin systems and equipment breakdowns, faults, and abnormalities, and how to deal with them 6. How to complete documentation relating to in-flight systems and equipment, including a cabin defects log
