Overview

This standard is about operating aircraft in-flight systems, equipment and doors. This involves operating and maintaining in-flight systems and equipment in line with your organisation's procedures, ensuring all equipment is operational. This also involves being able to open, close, secure, and monitor doors at required times, as well as identifying and responding to issues or malfunctions and following the required recording and reporting procedures.

This standard is for members of the cabin crew.

When you have completed this standard you will have demonstrated your understanding of and ability to:
• Operate in-flight systems, equipment and doors


Performance criteria

You must be able to:

1. Carry out pre-flight checks of in-flight systems, equipment and doors in line with the airline's procedures 2. Operate and maintain in-flight systems and equipment in line with the airline's procedures 3. Open, close, arm/disarm and secure all doors specific to the requirements of the aircraft and in line with the airline's procedures 4. Complete door cross checks in line with the airline's procedures, if required 5. Monitor the in-flight systems, equipment and doors and take action where needed in line with the airline’s procedures 6. Identify and respond to in-flight systems, equipment and doors issues within the limits of your responsibility and seek assistance from crew members as required 7. Record and report faulty in-flight systems, equipment and doors in line with the airline's procedures

You need to know and understand:

1. The airline procedures for carrying out pre-flight checks of in-flight systems, equipment and doors 2. How to operate and maintain the in-flight equipment and systems 3. How to operate and monitor the aircraft doors 4. The airline’s procedures for opening, closing and securing doors 5. The airline's procedures for cross checking the doors if required 6. The types of in-flight systems, equipment and doors issues which may arise and how to deal with them 7. When and how to seek assistance from crew members 8. The airline's procedures for recording and reporting in-flight systems, equipment and doors faults, including the use of the cabin defects log
