Overview

This standard is about maintaining flight control operations. This involves collecting, interpreting and using operational information on flight movements and operating conditions, disseminating this information to colleagues, and identifying, recording and confirming the action to take as a result. This also involves collecting and using operational information to inform organisational and airport/airfield contingency plans. You must be able to implement organisational and airport/airfield contingency plans to ensure the requirements of the airport and airlines, relevant legislation, safety, cost control, service level agreements and punctuality are met. 

This standard is for those responsible for maintaining flight control operations.

Performance criteria

You must be able to:

  1. Collect operational information on aircraft movements and operating conditions in line with organisational and airport/airfield procedures
  2. Interpret and use operational information to plan flight control operations in line with organisational and airport/airfield procedures and relevant legal requirements 
  3. Disseminate operational information to colleagues in line with organisational and airport/airfield procedures
  4. Identify, record and confirm the action to be taken in response to the operational information disseminated
  5. Maintain flight control operations in line with organisational and airport/airfield procedures and relevant legal requirements
  6. Use operational information to inform organisational and airport/airfield contingency plans to maintain flight control operations
  7. Confirm the organisational and airport/airfield contingency plans meet the requirements of the airport/airfield and airlines, relevant legislation, safety, cost control, service level agreements and punctuality
  8. Implement the organisational and airport/airfield contingency plans to maintain flight control operations within your level of authority
  9. Complete the required documentation in relation to the organisational and airport/airfield contingency plans in line with organisational and airport/airfield and relevant legal requirements
