Overview

This standard is about monitoring airport/airfield vehicles and personnel to maintain your organisation's and the airport's/airfield’s health and safety procedures and ensure compliance with relevant legal requirements for operating on the apron. This includes being able to identify and respond to health and safety breaches, investigating incidents, accidents and near misses and completing the required health and safety documentation according to your organisation's and the airport’s / airfield’s procedures and relevant legal requirements.

This standard is for those working in airports/airfields who monitor and maintain operations on the apron.

Performance criteria

You must be able to:

1. Monitor the operational condition of vehicles operating on the apron in line with the airport’s/airfield’s and organisational procedures and relevant legal requirements  2. Monitor the movement and operation of vehicles on the apron in line with the airport’s/airfield’s and organisational procedures and relevant legal requirements  3. Monitor the use of airside safety equipment and personal protective equipment (PPE) on the apron in line with the airport’s/airfield’s and organisational procedures and relevant legal requirements  4. Monitor the behaviour of personnel operating on the apron in line with the airport’s/airfield’s and organisational procedures and relevant legal requirements  5. Monitor aircraft fuelling practices are being followed in line with the airport’s/airfield’s and organisational procedures and relevant legal requirements 6. Maintain the safe movement and operation of vehicles and personnel on the apron in line the airport’s/airfield’s and organisational procedures and relevant legal requirements  7. Respond to identified health and safety breaches/incidents on the apron in line with the airport’s/airfield’s and organisational procedures and relevant legal requirements  8. Investigate, record and report breaches, incidents, accidents and near misses on the apron in line with the airport’s/airfield’s and organisational procedures and relevant legal requirements  9. Complete the required health and safety documentation in line with the airport’s/airfield’s and organisational procedures and relevant legal requirements
