You must be able to:
1. Follow your organisation’s procedure specific to the security screening equipment being used
2. Operate the security screening equipment in line with your organisation's procedures
3. Monitor the security screening equipment to confirm it is operational throughout your shift
4. Take the required action when faults or concerns are identified in security screening equipment in line with your organisation's procedures
5. Identify prohibited or suspicious items and take action in line with your organisation’s procedures and relevant regulatory requirements
Knowledge and Understanding
You need to know and understand:
1. The purpose of aviation security screening and the types of prohibited and suspect items that could be detected
2. The different types of security screening equipment used by your organisation and how it should function
3. The types of faults that could occur in aviation security screening equipment and when it must not be used
4. Your organisation’s procedures for the use of security screening equipment and dealing with faults or concerns
5. The types of exemptions for customers who cannot go through specific security screening equipment
6. Your organisation’s procedures following an aviation security equipment alarm or activation
7. Your organisation’s procedures for the care, use and testing/checking of security screening equipment and the importance of following them
8. How to identify prohibited or suspicious items and take action in line with your organisation’s procedures and relevant regulatory requirements
