When you have completed this standard you will be able to demonstrate your understanding of and ability to:

Performance criteria

You must be able to:

  1. organise staff by briefing them on the purpose and requirements of the display following your workplace procedures
  2. check relevant requirements with the appropriate authority following your workplace procedures
  3. provide opportunities for staff to check they understand the requirements of the display following your workplace procedures
  4. supervise the staff preparing the display area and putting the display together in a way that causes the least inconvenience to customers and follows relevant legislation and your workplace requirements
  5. follow your workplace procedures to provide constructive feedback to staff on their performance
  6. check that the assembled display conforms to the supplier's, your workplace and relevant legislation requirements
  7. obtain permission from the appropriate authority to modify or change the display following your workplace procedures
  8. monitor that information has been placed accurately, is in line with relevant legislation, your workplace procedures and is positioned to promote sales effectively
  9. keep complete, accurate and up-to-date records of displays following your workplace procedures

You need to know and understand:

  1. how to organise staff responsible for displaying goods for retail sale following your workplace procedures
  2. how different types of display help to reach sales targets
  3. how information can be positioned so that it helps to promote sales
  4. how the layout of the selling area affects sales
  5. the relevant legislation for pricing goods for sale
  6. your workplace procedures and relevant legislation for putting displays together, including cleaning and preparation
  7. how to work out what type and quantity of resources are required to set up displays
  8. how to brief staff in a way that encourages their involvement
