This standard is about checking the performance of suppliers of stock and evaluating this against agreed service levels.

This standard is for staff who evaluate suppliers’ performance.

When you have completed this standard you will be able to demonstrate your understanding of and ability to:

  • Check and evaluate the performance of suppliers of stock

Performance criteria

You must be able to:

  1. check the quality, price and times of deliveries against your workplace requirements and agreed service levels with the supplier
  2. use your workplace’s evaluation specifications to make judgements on the performance of suppliers
  3. ask colleagues and/or customers for comments about the quality and delivery times of stock received from suppliers following your workplace procedures
  4. provide accurate comments to suppliers on the level of service they provide following your workplace procedures
  5. keep records of evaluation and feedback findings following your workplace procedures

Knowledge and Understanding

You need to know and understand:

  1. how to check the range of stock and overdue stock orders of suppliers your workplace uses for ordering stock
  2. how to check the quality, price and times of deliveries against your workplace's requirements and supplier agreed service levels
  3. the records your workplace keeps about suppliers' performance and how to find and use them
  4. your workplace's evaluation specifications when checking the performance of suppliers
  5. who in your workplace can comment on the quality and delivery time of items or services received, and when and how to ask for their comments
  6. how to contact and complain to your suppliers of stock following your workplace procedures
  7. how to respond when colleagues and/or customers complain about the speed or quality of suppliers' performance following your workplace procedures
