What *is* *this* *standard* *about?*
Achievement of this standard demonstrates your competence in assessing the need for and implementing safety, health, and environmental training. You will be able to understand the definition of competence in regards to regulations, continually monitor, review and assess training needs, and create training plans to fill any gaps.
Who *is* *this* *standard* *for?*
This standard is applicable to anyone at a supervisory or managerial level authorized to carry out this function, they may also be in a learning and development role.
Performance criteria
You must be able to:
- Review your own and others’ safety, health and environmental *competence *
- Review current training provision in accordance with your company’s policies and procedures
- Create and implement a training plan or program to fill any gaps in the safety, health and environmental competence identified
- Check that the completed training plans or programs fulfilled the need identified
- Monitor your own and others’ safety, health and environmental *competence *
- Maintain accurate records of implementing safety, health, and environmental training.
Knowledge and Understanding
You need to know and understand:
1. The distinction and relationship between training and **competence**
2. The **competence** requirements of persons working on the site
3. How **competence** is maintained
4. How to Identify gaps in safety, health, and environmental **competence** of people in your area of responsibility
5. Methods for creating a training plan or program
6. Your organisation's procedures for implementing a training plan or program
7. The use of your organisations approved tools or methods to assess if the training has met the identified needs
8. Methods for reviewing and measuring the effectiveness of safety, health, and environmental training
9. The importance of maintaining Continuous Professional Development (CPD)
