This standard specifies the skills, knowledge and understanding required to demonstrate competence in the operation of mobile plant such as an excavator or loading shovel that is designed to extract materials or minerals such as ground, face or loose materials in extraction sites, open ground, tips or bays.

This standard is applicable to any person operating plant to extract materials or minerals."
