Install hardstanding individual bed preparation
Overview
This standard is for those who install hardstanding individual bed preparation that is used within the landscaping industries.
The standard is suitable for operatives working under limited supervision and focuses on the skills required both to understand the structure and undertake the installation of hard-surface individual bed preparation while working to specifications.
You will be expected to understand the impact of this work on the immediate environment, and the impact of the environment on the structure.
Performance criteria
You must be able to:
- assess the risks associated with installing hardstanding individual bed preparation and the proposed work
- select and wear suitable clothing and personal protective equipment (PPE)
- select, prepare and use tools and equipment when installing hardstanding individual bed preparation safely and correctly
- set out for line and level
- place and prepare a suitable laying course
- keep damage to the surroundings to a minimum when installing hardstanding individual bed preparation
- leave the site in a clean and tidy condition after installing hardstanding individual bed preparation
- clean, maintain and store tools and equipment promptly and securely
- protect working areas correctly against weather and use after the installation of hardstanding individual bed preparation until they are in a suitable condition
