Overview

This standard is about contributing to the surveying of property and land and assisting in the preparation of a survey report.  It is about understanding the nature and purpose of surveying properties and contributing to the inspection and reporting process.​


Performance criteria

You must be able to:

  1. confirm the objectives and purpose of the survey
  2. contribute to the surveying of property and land to prepare a survey report to agree with your line manager
  3. confirm with the property or land survey users and customers, that the recommended survey method meets their requirements
  4. check and confirm, before starting work, that all arrangements have been made to carry out the surveying of the property or land
  5. arrange for the required equipment to be brought to the site and kept in compliance with the relevant security requirements
  6. check and adjust the equipment to confirm that it is in working order
  7. take the observations and measurements which are required for the inspection and record them using the agreed formats
  8. undertake further investigations when observations are inconsistent with recorded data, and notify your line manager
  9. identify and record evidence of defects of property and land and seek advice where implications breach the relevant professional and statutory requirements
  10. identify and report any breaches of statutory requirements to your line manager
  11. assemble and collate survey information which meets the requirements of the survey process
  12. assist in the preparation of a survey report which meets the agreed industry survey requirements
  13. explain where and why it has not been possible to undertake inspection and measurement to the relevant professional and statutory requirements
  14. maintain internal records which comply with the relevant professional and statutory requirements and your organisation's requirements​

You need to know and understand:

  1. how to contribute to the surveying of property and land to prepare a survey report to agree with your line manager

  3. property building and land survey methods
  4. how to check and confirm, before starting work that all arrangements have been made to carry out the surveying of the property or land

  7. the type of formats for recording observations and measurements
