Overview
This standard is about contributing to the surveying of property and land and assisting in the preparation of a survey report. It is about understanding the nature and purpose of surveying properties and contributing to the inspection and reporting process.
Performance criteria
You must be able to:
- confirm the objectives and purpose of the survey
- contribute to the surveying of property and land to prepare a survey report to agree with your line manager
- confirm with the property or land survey users and customers, that the recommended survey method meets their requirements
- check and confirm, before starting work, that all arrangements have been made to carry out the surveying of the property or land
- arrange for the required equipment to be brought to the site and kept in compliance with the relevant security requirements
- check and adjust the equipment to confirm that it is in working order
- take the observations and measurements which are required for the inspection and record them using the agreed formats
- undertake further investigations when observations are inconsistent with recorded data, and notify your line manager
- identify and record evidence of defects of property and land and seek advice where implications breach the relevant professional and statutory requirements
- identify and report any breaches of statutory requirements to your line manager
- assemble and collate survey information which meets the requirements of the survey process
- assist in the preparation of a survey report which meets the agreed industry survey requirements
- explain where and why it has not been possible to undertake inspection and measurement to the relevant professional and statutory requirements
- maintain internal records which comply with the relevant professional and statutory requirements and your organisation's requirements
