Overview

This standard is about developing organisational talent. It covers involving employees at all levels of the organisation possess and developing the skills and knowledge they need. It includes developing and communicating a talent development plan, designing and implementing talent development programmes, ensuring fair access to opportunities.

This standard is for HR professionals who are involved in the development of organisational talent.


Performance criteria

You must be able to:

  1. determine development needs of current and future organisational talent
  2. elaborate a talent development plan in accordance with the established needs of the organisation
  3. involve all employees in the talent development plan
  4. develop business cases for talent development initiatives
  5. design talent development programmes, recommending the most appropriate delivery channels
  6. identify legislative requirements and changes that may impact talent development
  7. advise and coach managers in the use of the organisation’s talent development infrastructure
  8. involve the managers in development of selected talent
  9. align career management processes with organisation’s talent management principles and provide open access to opportunities
  10. support employees in developing their career plans
  11. facilitate job transfers for individuals in accordance with identified career plans and the talent management principles
  12. support the talent training and development within the organisation
  13. make suggestions for continuous improvement of the organisation’s talent management processes

You need to know and understand:

  1. your organisational strategies, values, goals and objectives
  2. the sectors in which your organisation operates and the market factors impacting on its performance
  3. the sources of specialist information and expertise and how to access it
  4. the role of talent development in driving organisational performance and meeting the objectives
  5. the performance management in relation to developing organisational talent
  6. your organisational talent strategy and planning
  7. the training and development programmes for organisational talent
  8. the methods used to develop realistic career plans
  9. the leadership management programmes
  10. the relevant employee reward and recognition programmes
  11. how to assess current and future talent levels and determine talent acquisition needs
  12. how to create a talent development plan in accordance with identified needs
  13. the value and benefits of involving employees in talent development plan and defining their roles in it
